Botz Liquid Glaze 9604 Orange – bright, opaque and glossy

Botz liquid glaze 9604 Orange is a glossy, opaque glaze in bright orange for bisque-fired ceramics. It is a single solid colour and is applied with a brush. According to Botz, it is suitable for raku.

The glaze can only be fired up to 1040 °C. At higher temperatures the orange tends towards pink. Plan your firing so that you do not exceed this limit.

Applying the glaze

The glaze has good coverage, but it looks strongest when applied thickly. Several coats give a more even orange than a single thin application.

• Stir the glaze well and thin with a little water if needed
• Apply with a brush to bisque-fired ceramics (bisque firing min. 950 °C)
• Allow to dry thoroughly
• If needed, apply another coat and allow to dry again

Firing and colour effect

The firing temperature is decisive for the bright orange: do not fire above 1040 °C, otherwise the colour shifts towards pink. A tension swatch is not needed here, but a test piece on your own clay shows you in advance how the orange looks with your kiln and your firing curve.
