Ceramic kiln posts – stacking props for several levels in your kiln

With these ceramic kiln posts (stacking props), Ø 40 mm, you can make better use of the space in your kiln: you set kiln shelves on top of each other on several levels and so fire more pieces in one go. The posts are available in different heights. Choose the height from the options.

The height you choose determines how much space is left between two shelves. A low post is enough for shallow bowls and plates; for mugs, vases or figures you need a taller one.

Setting up the levels

Place the first kiln shelf on the kiln floor and set the posts on it. Use posts of the same height for each level and position them so that the next shelf rests securely and level. A shelf stands stably on three posts; for large shelves, four posts make sense. Make sure the posts stand vertically above one another so that the stack does not tip over.

Which height to choose

Measure your tallest pieces and choose the post height so that there is still space above each piece. If you want to combine levels of different heights in the kiln, choose a separate post height for each level.
