Botz Stoneware Glaze 9894 Beigegranit – satin beige with black speckles
Botz stoneware glaze 9894 Beigegranit is a liquid, satin-finish glaze for stoneware with a firing range of 1220–1280 °C. It gives an opaque beige with fine black speckles and a calm, stone-like surface on your ceramics.
Thanks to the high firing temperature, the glaze becomes frost-proof and watertight according to Botz, so it does not absorb water. This also makes it suitable for pieces used outdoors. As the glaze is opaque, the colour of the clay hardly shows through, and the result looks similar on light and dark clay bodies.
How Beigegranit looks at different temperatures
The colour depends on the firing temperature. The firing therefore determines whether the beige turns out warmer or lighter and cooler.
- 1220 °C: slightly yellowish beige with fine black speckles
- 1250 °C: light beige with fine black speckles
- 1280 °C: light greyish white with fine brown and black speckles; the glaze looks particularly stone-like here
Application and firing
Stir the glaze well before applying, as the speckles and pigments can settle. Apply it with a brush in two to three coats, ideally three, and let each coat dry thoroughly. This gives an even, opaque layer. A test piece made from your own clay will show you beforehand how the colour and speckles turn out in your kiln.
- Recommended firing temperature: 1250 °C with a 30-minute hold
- Firing range: 1220–1280 °C
- Apply to clean, dust-free ceramics
Choosing within the series
Beigegranit belongs to the Botz stoneware series, which includes further shades such as Graubasalt, Sandgranit, Ockergranit, Lilaeffekt and Eiskristall. Beigegranit is the light, beige variant with black speckles.
