Botz Stoneware Glaze 9887 Cremeweiß – opaque glaze for stoneware at 1220–1280 °C

Botz stoneware glaze 9887 Cremeweiß is a liquid, cream-white glaze for stoneware in the firing range 1220–1280 °C. It is opaque and plain-coloured. It gives an even, light surface that works well as a base glaze or on simple vessels, bowls and decorative pieces. The tin contains 800 ml.

The high firing temperature makes the stoneware vitrified and frost-proof: the clay body does not absorb water. The glaze is fired in the stoneware range, so it is not suitable for low-fired ceramics that are only fired at temperatures below 1220 °C.

Application

Stir the glaze thoroughly before use to bring the settled particles back into suspension. Apply it with a brush in 2 to 3 coats, preferably 3, and let each coat dry well. An opaque glaze easily shows uneven patches if applied too thinly. Brush on evenly and change the direction of your strokes with each coat. Leave the foot ring free, otherwise the piece will stick to the kiln shelf during firing.

Firing

Fire in the stoneware range. According to Botz, 1250 °C with a 30-minute hold gives the best result. A test piece on your own clay shows you beforehand how the Cremeweiß turns out.
