Botz stoneware glaze 9887 Cremeweiß is a liquid, opaque stoneware glaze in cream white for glazing stoneware. It is a plain, single-colour glaze intended for firings in the range of 1220 to 1280 °C.

Thanks to the high firing temperature, the glaze becomes frost-proof and vitrified according to Botz, so the surface does not absorb water. That matters if you are glazing vessels or decorations for outdoor use.

Application

The glaze is ready to use. Stir it thoroughly before applying, as the solids settle. It is applied to bisque-fired ceramics.

• Apply 2 to 3 coats with a brush, 3 coats being preferable according to Botz
• Let each coat dry well before applying the next
• Firing range: 1220–1280 °C
• Recommended: 1250 °C with a 30-minute hold

Firing tips

The glaze is opaque. If you apply it too thinly, the colour can turn out uneven, so three coats are the safe choice. A test tile made from your own clay will show you beforehand how the cream white looks on it. Leave the foot of the piece unglazed, otherwise it may stick to the kiln shelf during firing. The glaze is only intended for clay and kilns that reach the stoneware range up to 1280 °C.
