Botz PRO 9307 Perlrosa – glossy, semi-transparent glaze for earthenware and stoneware

Botz PRO 9307 Perlrosa is a ready-to-use brush-on glaze in a glossy, semi-transparent pink for earthenware and stoneware. The firing range runs from 1020 to 1280 °C, so you can use it for both earthenware firings and high firings. The tub contains 800 ml.

How the glaze looks depends greatly on the firing temperature. As it is semi-transparent, the colour of your clay also shows through. A test piece made from your own clay will show you beforehand how Perlrosa turns out for you.

Colour effect by firing temperature

Botz gives 1050 °C for earthenware and 1250 °C for stoneware as the best firing temperature, each with a 10–20 minute hold. Between and above these temperatures the glaze changes:

• From 1020 °C (earthenware): strong, almost opaque colour, apply 2–3 coats
• Around 1150 °C: the colour stays, the surface becomes more semi-transparent, apply 2 coats
• Around 1250 °C (high firing): glassy, semi-transparent surface in pastel shades, good results on porcelain too at 1250 °C; Perlrosa melts out more transparent here

Application and avoiding runs

Stir the glaze well before brushing and let each coat dry off. Before firing, the glaze should dry for a day. If applied thickly, it tends to run: apply it more thinly on the lower part of the piece and leave the foot unglazed so that it does not stick to the kiln shelf. For decoration, it can be combined with Botz Unidekor.

Tableware: what to bear in mind

For tableware, Botz recommends PRO glazes from approx. 1200 °C. In the earthenware range (1020–1100 °C) many clays are not yet watertight. Do not fill such ceramics with liquids for long periods, and do not leave them outside in frost. Botz recommends hand washing. According to the manufacturer, all Botz products are non-hazardous (no labelling required).

Keep out of reach of children. Children may only glaze under supervision. Do not eat, drink or smoke when glazing, and wash hands afterwards. Risk of slipping if the product is spilled. Protect from frost and sunlight and keep the tub tightly closed. Ventilate the kiln room well and vent kiln fumes directly outdoors.
