Botz 9542 Blaueffekt Liquid Glaze – Glossy Green-Blue with Light Effects
Botz 9542 Blaueffekt liquid glaze is a glossy, opaque glaze in a greenish blue with subtle light effects. It gives the surface an impression of depth and looks textured to slightly speckled. You brush it onto bisque-fired ceramics and fire it within the firing range of 1020–1060 °C.
The glaze is raku suitable and belongs to the glazes for earthenware. It suits bowls, plates, figures and decorative pieces where depth of colour is the main focus. Because it is opaque, the glaze determines the colour effect. The effects develop across the surface and show up especially on vessels with slight hollows or relief.
Applying the glaze
Use the glaze on bisque-fired ceramics. It is important to stir it well before applying, because the particles settle in the container.
- Stir the glaze well and thin with a little water if needed
- Brush onto the bisque-fired piece (bisque firing at least 950 °C)
- Allow to dry well and add a further coat if needed
- Glaze fire within the firing range of 1020–1060 °C
Choosing and firing
Blaueffekt is a glossy, opaque shade from the Botz range of liquid glazes for earthenware. The glaze stays stable in the firing range of 1020–1060 °C. Because the effects depend on the application and the firing, it is worth making a test piece on the same clay you will be working with later. That way you can see in advance how the green-blue and the light accents turn out for you.
