Botz 9366 Muscheltürkis Liquid Glaze – Opaque, Glossy Pastel Turquoise

Botz 9366 Muscheltürkis liquid glaze is an opaque, glossy glaze in pastel turquoise for bisque-fired ceramics. It covers well and gives very good results even on coloured clays. The glaze melts out very well and does not tend to run, even at 1100 °C.

The glaze is stable in the firing range of 1020 to 1060 °C and can be fired up to 1100 °C. This makes it suitable for earthenware. It is also suitable for raku. As it is a plain, opaque colour, it works well on surfaces where the colour should look even, for example bowls, cups, figures or decorative pieces.

Application

Apply the glaze to bisque-fired ceramics. The bisque firing should have been carried out at 950 °C or higher. Proceed in this order:

• Stir the glaze well, as the colour pigments and glaze components settle.
• If needed, dilute with a little water.
• Apply evenly with a brush and leave to dry thoroughly.
• If needed, apply another coat so that the colour covers richly and evenly.

Firing and result

Fire in the range of 1020 to 1060 °C, where the glaze is stable. If you go up to 1100 °C, it also melts out well. Keep the foot of the piece free of glaze so that it does not stick to the kiln shelf during firing. A test piece made from your own clay will show you beforehand how the turquoise looks for you. On a dark or coloured clay body, the opaque glaze still gives a pastel result.
