Botz 9362 Babyrosa liquid glaze is an opaque, glossy glaze in a soft pink for bisque-fired ceramics. It gives good coverage and leaves mugs, bowls, figures and decorative pieces with a pastel, plain-coloured surface.

According to Botz, the glaze melts out very well and does not tend to run, even at 1100 °C. This helps with pieces that have relief detail or a foot ring, because the glaze is less likely to run there. According to Botz, you also get very good results on coloured clays. Because the glaze is opaque, the colour of the clay barely shows through, but a test piece is still worthwhile on a dark clay body.

Applying the glaze

The glaze is intended for bisque-fired ceramics. The bisque firing should have been carried out at 950 °C or above, so that the clay body takes up the glaze evenly.

• Stir the glaze well before use
• If necessary, thin with a little water
• Apply to the bisque-fired ceramics with a brush
• Leave to dry thoroughly and, if necessary, repeat the application

Firing and firing range

The glaze is stable in the range of 1020–1060 °C. You can fire it up to 1100 °C. It is also suitable for raku. Wipe the foot ring clean before firing so that the piece does not stick to the kiln shelf. A test piece on your own clay shows you beforehand how the pink looks on the clay body.
