Clay Hole Cutter – Clean Holes in Wet Clay

With the clay hole cutter you can cut holes and cut-outs in wet clay, earth clay or modelling clay. The metal blade tapers to a point and the varnished hardwood handle sits comfortably in the hand. The tool is available in various sizes; choose the size from the options.

The length is approx. 20 cm. This lets you guide the cutter with control and with some distance from your hand, for example for handle attachments, whistles, pendants or decorative holes.

Cutting a hole

Work on a firm surface and use clay that is still wet and workable. Place the hole cutter at the position you want and press it into the clay with a slight twisting motion. Pull it out again and remove the cut-out piece of clay. This gives a cleaner result than a pointed object, because the edges do not fray. Leave enough distance to the edge of the piece so that the clay around the hole stays stable.

Choosing the size

The size depends on the diameter of the hole you need. Choose a small size for fine hanging holes or details and a larger one for bigger cut-outs. You can see which diameters are available in the options.
