30 cm MDF banding wheel – turns smoothly for modelling and glazing

This MDF banding wheel, 30 cm in diameter, is a turntable for rotating your work while modelling, painting, glazing and decorating clay. Thanks to the ball bearing it turns smoothly, so you can work all the way around your piece without touching it or moving it.

The top is coated white. You turn the wheel by hand; it has no motor drive. It is therefore not intended for throwing vessels on a potter's wheel, but it is suitable for building, decorating and finishing.

Working with the banding wheel

Place the wheel on a stable, level table and set your piece in the centre. When building coil pots or modelling, turn the wheel with one hand and guide the tool with the other. This keeps the rim even. For glazing or painting, hold the brush still and let the wheel turn beneath it, which gives even edges. MDF does not tolerate permanent moisture. Wipe off slip and glaze residue after working.

Which size?

With a diameter of 30 cm, the wheel offers plenty of room for larger bowls, plates and figures. For smaller pieces and cramped workspaces, the banding wheel is also available in Ø 20 cm.
