MDF banding wheel, Ø 20 cm – smooth to turn for building and glazing
The MDF banding wheel, Ø 20 cm, is a turntable for clay work, modelling, painting and glazing. The ball bearing lets you turn it easily by hand, so you can work on your piece all the way round without touching or moving it.
The top is white coated and measures 200 mm in diameter. The wheel is 47 mm high, so you can reach your work comfortably on the table.
What the banding wheel is used for
The wheel has no motor; you turn it by hand. That means it is not suitable for throwing on an electric wheel, but it works well for building vessels with coils, smoothing and decorating, applying engobe, painting or glazing. As you slowly keep turning the wheel while you work, you apply decoration and glaze evenly all round the piece.
Which size?
At Ø 20 cm, the wheel suits cups, bowls, small vases and figures. For larger vessels or wide slabs, the banding wheel is also available in Ø 30 cm.
