HSL Junior VS – electric potter's wheel with foot pedal and splash pan
The HSL Junior VS is an electric potter's wheel for small studios and for use at home. A 150 watt (0.2 hp) DC motor turns the Ø 240 mm aluminium wheel head, and you can adjust the speed continuously up to approx. 200 rpm. The foot pedal stays in any position, so you do not have to hold the speed and have both hands free for the clay.
The housing is made of powder-coated metal and stands on 4 rubber feet. The Ø 400 mm splash pan has a drain and is easy to remove for cleaning. The drive is maintenance-free, and the wheel head runs on an axial ball bearing.
Working at the wheel
Pat the clay into a firm ball and place it in the centre of the wheel head; the centring grooves help you line it up. To centre the clay, turn the wheel a little faster with the foot pedal and keep your wetted hands steady on the clay. To pull up, shape and refine, reduce the speed. The variable speed control up to approx. 200 rpm lets you match the pace exactly to each stage of your work. Use little water, as clay that is too wet becomes soft and loses its stability. Fit the splash pan with its drain so that water and slip do not splash across the table.
Cleaning and setting up
Unplug the wheel from the mains before cleaning. Remove the splash pan and rinse it out, then wipe the powder-coated housing with a damp cloth before the clay dries on. At 12 kg including packaging and a width of 415 mm, it needs a sturdy table or workstation where the rubber feet stand securely.
