The Botz fan brush size 4 (art. no. 9009) is a soft glaze brush for applying ceramic glazes to ceramics cleanly and evenly. The fan shape spreads the glaze over larger areas in a single stroke, and the soft fibres allow controlled application. The brush has a short wooden handle.

You can use it for clear, effect and matt glazes. It works with Botz glazes and with glazes from other brands.

Applying glaze with the fan brush

Stir the glaze well, dip the brush and wipe off excess glaze on the rim of the container. Then brush over the piece in one direction with a light hand, without going over the same spot several times. Let the coat dry slightly before applying the next. Several thin coats usually give a more even finish than one thick coat, which can lead to runs or pooling at the bottom of the piece. The instructions for your glaze state how many coats are needed.

Care and choosing a brush

After glazing, rinse the brush thoroughly with water and leave it to dry lying flat or with the fibres pointing upwards. This keeps the fan in shape. For fine outlines and small details a round brush is the better choice; the fan brush is intended for larger areas.
