Natural wooden wheel with rounded tread – for toy cars, trailers and model making

The natural wooden wheel with a rounded tread is an untreated wheel in solid raw wood for building toy cars, trailers, models and decorations. The rounded tread gives smooth, even rolling. The central hole, Ø 3.5 mm, takes the axle, so you can fit the wheels without any reworking.

The wood is untreated. You can therefore varnish, paint, stain or oil the wheels as you wish, or simply leave them natural. Choose the size from the options.

Building a vehicle

Choose an axle that is slightly thinner than the hole, for example a round dowel approx. 3 mm in diameter. The wheel will then turn freely. Push the axle through the chassis or the axle holders and fit a wheel on each side. To stop the wheels slipping off, secure them on the outside with a stopper, such as a small bead or a wooden button glued to the end of the axle. If a wheel is glued fast, the axle turns with it. If you want the wheel to run freely on the axle, do not glue it in place.

Which size to choose

Small wheels of Ø 30 or 40 mm suit compact models and miniatures. For larger vehicles, trailers and handcart models, use Ø 60 to 80 mm. Always order the wheels for one axle in the same size.
