Rowan Felted Tweed – DK tweed yarn in wool, alpaca and viscose

Rowan Felted Tweed is a light DK yarn with a tweed effect, made from 50 % wool, 25 % alpaca and 25 % viscose. You can knit jumpers, cardigans, hats or scarves with a soft, marl look. One ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 175 m, which equals 350 m per 100 g. This makes it easy to convert the yarn requirements of your pattern into balls.

Many colours in this range were designed by well-known designers such as Kaffe Fassett and Dee Hardwicke. The wide colour palette combines well, for example for colourwork or Fair Isle. Choose your colour from the options.

What Felted Tweed is used for

The yarn is lightly felted, which gives the fabric its typical tweed character. According to Rowan, it is suitable for lace, Fair Isle and colourwork. The blend of wool, alpaca and viscose makes a fabric that is pleasant to wear. The DK weight suits jumpers, cardigans and accessories for autumn and winter.

Knitting and tension

Knit a tension swatch with 3.75–4 mm needles and compare it with your pattern. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. According to Rowan, the yarn blocks well. This helps especially with lace and colourwork, so that the stitch pattern looks even. For larger items, it is best to buy all the balls from the same dye lot. You can ask about a specific dye lot number before ordering.
