Lang Yarns Baby Alpaca – 100% alpaca knitting yarn with Easywash
Lang Yarns Baby Alpaca (no. 719) is a 100% alpaca knitting yarn for jumpers, cardigans, scarves, hats and babywear. One ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 170 m. That makes it easy to work out how much you need for your pattern: per 100 g, that is approx. 340 m.
According to the manufacturer, the yarn has an Easywash and non-felting finish. This makes it easier to care for than untreated alpaca wool. It is knitted with 3 mm needles. Choose your colour from the options.
Yarn requirements and tension
For size M, Lang Yarns gives the following yarn requirements: men's approx. 600 g, women's approx. 400 g and age 10 approx. 300 g. Depending on the size, that is roughly 12, 8 or 6 balls of 50 g. The actual quantity depends on the design, length and stitch pattern, so it is best to calculate from the figure given in your pattern. As a reserve, it is wise to buy one ball extra, ideally from the same dye lot.
The ball band gives 26 stitches and 34 rows over 10 × 10 cm on 3 mm needles. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.
Care
According to the manufacturer, wash Baby Alpaca with wool detergent and without fabric softener. The care label shows washing at 30 °C on a gentle cycle. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry. It is best to dry wool flat, pulled into shape.
