Rico Design Baby Merino – soft knitting yarn for baby clothes

Rico Design Baby Merino is a knitting yarn in 100% virgin wool for small baby items such as hats, booties or rompers. According to the manufacturer, the wool is mulesing-free, and it feels pleasantly soft.

One ball weighs 25 g and has a length of 100 m. With the small balls you can plan the amount of yarn for small items precisely. Choose your colour from the options.

Yarn requirements and tension

For a baby garment in size 9–12 months, Rico Design allows approx. 200 g, which works out at about 8 balls of 25 g. The actual amount used depends on the pattern and on how you knit. For hats and booties you will need correspondingly less. Rico Design gives 26 stitches and 34 rows over 10 × 10 cm with 4 mm needles. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.

Care of finished baby clothes

According to Rico Design, you wash the yarn at 30 °C on a delicate cycle. Wash knitted items once before the first wear, then lay them flat to dry so that they keep their shape.
