CLOVER Cable Needles – 3 sizes for cable and Aran patterns
The CLOVER cable needles (art. no. 330) are a set of three holders for knitting cables, Aran patterns and crossed stitches. The set contains 1 holder each in small, medium and large. According to Clover, they are intended for yarns of standard thickness and are made of ABS plastic and polyacetal.
The cable needle holds the stitches you set aside for the cross securely, so they cannot slip off while you knit the next stitches.
Knitting a cable
Knit up to the stitches that are to be crossed. Slip the first stitches of the cable onto the holder and hold it in front of or behind the work, as your pattern says. Then knit the next stitches of the cable from the left-hand needle, followed by the stitches from the holder. The side on which you hold the holder decides whether the cable crosses to the left or to the right.
Choosing the size
Choose the holder according to the number of stitches in the cable and the yarn thickness: the small one suits a few stitches, the large one wider cables and thicker yarn. The holder should take the stitches without stretching them too much.
