The addiCraSyTrio 21 cm from addi is a set of three flexible double-pointed needles for knitting small items in the round, such as socks, gloves, wrist warmers or sleeves. The idea comes from knitting expert Sylvie Rasch, and the set is developed and made by addi in Germany. It combines features of a circular knitting needle and double-pointed needles: you divide the stitches between two needles and knit with the third, so you only change needles twice per round. This saves time and reduces the risk of stitches slipping off the needle ends.
Each of the three needles has a basic tip at one end and a lace tip at the other. The basic tip is intended for everyday yarns, the slimmer lace tip for fine yarns and lace patterns. Choose your needle size from the options.
Knitting with the addiCraSyTrio
Cast on as usual and divide the stitches between two of the three needles. With the third needle, knit the stitches of the first. Once the first needle is empty, it becomes the free needle and you use it to knit the stitches of the second. This way you work your way round, with just two needle changes instead of four as with classic double-pointed needles. The flexible cable in the middle sits comfortably in the hand and allows natural hand movements.
What the set is suited to
The set is made for small circumferences: socks, including baby socks, gloves, leg warmers and sleeves. Because of the short tips of approx. 85 mm each, it is suitable for items up to approx. 12 cm in diameter. For larger pieces such as the body of a jumper, you need a circular knitting needle with a longer cable. The individual needles can also be used as cable needles.
