Go Handmade Teddy – fluffy yarn for teddy bears and baby items

Teddy from Go Handmade is a fluffy 100 % polyester yarn for crochet and knitting. According to the manufacturer, it is intended for teddy bears, baby clothes and baby blankets. The soft, plush surface makes finished pieces cuddly.

Each ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 65 m. Use this to work out how many balls your project needs: 65 m per ball gives 130 m per 100 g. The yarn is AZO-certified (tested for harmful substances) and carries the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Choose your colour from the options.

Working with Teddy

According to the manufacturer, the tension is 15 stitches and 22 rows over 10 × 10 cm with 4–5 mm needles. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. With plush yarn, individual stitches are hard to see. Count regularly and work in good light. For teddy bears you usually crochet more tightly than for blankets, so the stuffing does not show through. To do this, use a hook slightly smaller than the recommended size.

According to the manufacturer, Teddy is suitable for teddy bears, baby clothes and baby blankets. The fluffy surface hides small irregularities in the stitches. Even simple pieces in double crochet or stocking stitch therefore look evenly soft. For patterns with clear texture such as cables or lace patterns, a smooth yarn is better, because the fluff covers the detail.

Care

Machine wash Teddy items at a maximum of 40 °C. Do not tumble dry; leave them to dry in the air instead.
