Efco safety noses are black plastic animal noses for handmade soft toys, amigurumi figures and dolls. You push the nose through the fabric or crocheted piece and fix it at the back with a matching safety washer. It sits firmly in the material and cannot simply be pulled off.

Fitting the nose

Fit the nose before you stuff the figure, as the washer is put on from the inside. Check the position first with pins, because once the nose has clicked into place it is hard to remove.

• Decide on the position of the nose on the face and, on crochet, push it through between two stitches
• Guide the shaft through the fabric or crocheted piece from the outside
• Press the washer on at the back until it clicks into place
• Then stuff the figure and close it

Choosing the size

The size depends on the face of your figure. Small noses suit small amigurumi animals, while larger noses make a bolder feature on bigger soft toys and dolls. Try the nose against the face before fitting it.
