The Rayher nylon thread (art. no. 8947200) is a transparent thread, 0.3 mm in diameter, for stringing, jewellery, beaded animals and light decorations. The reel holds 55 m, enough for several projects. Rayher describes the thread as very hard-wearing. The breaking strength is 4 kg and the hanging load is 0.7 kg. Because the thread is transparent, it is barely visible between the beads.

At 0.3 mm, this is the thinnest of the three Rayher nylon thread sizes (0.3, 0.35 and 0.5 mm). It works well when bead holes are narrow. For heavier beads or greater loads, choose the thicker sizes with higher breaking strength.

Choosing the right thickness

Match the thread diameter to the opening of your beads. This matters most when you pass the thread through the same bead several times, for example when making beaded animals. The thread must still pass through comfortably after several passes. Test on one bead first to check whether two or three passes are possible. For decorations that hang, keep to the hanging load of 0.7 kg and use the thread only for light pieces.
