Lang Yarns Suri Alpaca is a 100% alpaca knitting yarn for soft jumpers and accessories. It is spun from the fibres of suri alpacas, whose smooth fibre surface gives the yarn a silky sheen. Each ball weighs 25 g and, according to the manufacturer, has a length of approx. 100 m. That works out at about 400 m per 100 g, which helps you plan the quantity for your project. Choose your colour from the options.

With the recommended needle size of 4.5–5 mm, you knit a soft fabric with a loose, flowing drape. That suits jumpers, shawls or hats, where the yarn is worn close to the skin.

Planning your project

The manufacturer gives yarn requirements by size: for a jumper in men's size M, Lang Yarns calculates approx. 350 g, for women's size M approx. 250 g and for a 10-year-old child approx. 150 g. These figures are only a guide, and the actual quantity depends on the design, the stitch pattern and the length. With 25 g per ball, you quickly reach ten balls or more, so it is worth calculating the quantity in advance from your pattern.

Tension and care

The ball band gives 16 stitches and 24 rows over 10 × 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. For washing, Lang Yarns recommends a wool detergent without fabric softener.
