Kremke Stellaris – glitter carry-along yarn for subtle accents

Kremke Stellaris is a carry-along yarn with a glitter thread, which adds subtle highlights to knitting and crochet projects. It is made of 47% viscose, 41% polyester and 12% metallic yarn and can be combined with other yarns or worked on its own. According to Kremke, it is soft and does not scratch or prickle, which is especially pleasant against the skin in scarves and jumpers.

One ball weighs 25 g and has a length of 560 m. The yarn is very fine, and the sparkle stays understated without overpowering the main yarn.

How to use Stellaris

As a carry-along yarn, you hold Stellaris together with your main yarn and knit or crochet both strands as one. This gives wool, cotton or mohair a fine shimmer without greatly changing the look of the stitches. Worked on its own, it produces a very delicate, sparkling fabric, for example for fine details or accessories. The needle size depends on the yarn combination. Work your tension swatch with both strands held together, as the additional strand can affect the stitch size.

Planning quantities

When carried along, Stellaris runs the full length of the main yarn. You therefore need roughly as many metres of Stellaris as your main yarn has metres. With 560 m per ball, you can easily work this out from the length of your main yarn. If you only want the sparkle in individual stripes or sections, you will need correspondingly less.
