Noro Rikka is a self-striping knitting and crochet yarn made from 57% wool, 22% alpaca and 21% silk. Each skein weighs 200 g and has a length of approx. 320 m, which is enough for larger projects such as shawls, hats or jumpers. Choose your colour from the options.

The yarn contains merino wool and Corriedale, alpaca from Peru and undyed mulberry silk. It is made in Japan. The wool provides warmth, the alpaca softness and the silk a subtle sheen.

Projects

On needles of 5.5–8 mm you work quickly and get a soft fabric with a good handle. With a chunky yarn of this weight, larger items such as shawls, hats or jumpers grow quickly. The colour gradient runs through the piece as stripes or patches, so simple patterns such as stocking stitch, garter stitch or trebles work especially well. Elaborate textured patterns easily get lost in the colour changes.

Tension and care

Knit a tension swatch with the needle size given in your pattern. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. For larger items such as a jumper, buy the whole quantity from the same dye lot if possible. Hand wash the finished piece and lay it flat to dry so that it keeps its shape.
