Lang Yarns VELVET – faux fur yarn with a velvety fluff

Lang Yarns VELVET is a novelty yarn for faux fur details on cuffs, collars and hoods. You can knit it on its own or combine it with another yarn as a carry-along yarn. A sturdy, fine polyamide core carries the silky viscose fluff. Knitted up, it gives a velvety, fur-like surface in which the individual stitches almost disappear.

One ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 170 m. That makes it easy to plan the quantity needed for trimmings. Choose your colour from the options.

What to use VELVET for

The fluff sits densely on the surface, so even a narrow strip looks like fur trim. Cuffs, collars and hood edges are typical uses. Knitted on its own, it gives the plushest effect. Held together with a second yarn, it adds a soft, fluffy accent without making the piece too thick overall.

Working with the yarn

Because the stitches get lost in the fluff, simple textures such as stocking stitch or garter stitch work best. Elaborate patterns would hardly show up. Take your time when knitting, too, as fluffy yarns are difficult to unravel. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the manufacturer's figure of 23 stitches and 35 rows over 10 × 10 cm on 3.5–4 mm needles is only a guide. For washing, use detergent for delicates without fabric softener, according to the manufacturer.
