Lang Yarns Malou Light – soft alpaca yarn for jumpers, ponchos and scarves

Lang Yarns Malou Light is a knitting yarn made of 72 % alpaca, 16 % polyamide and 12 % wool, for winter clothing and accessories such as jumpers, ponchos and scarves. The high alpaca content makes the yarn fluffy and soft. The polyamide content makes the stitches more hard-wearing.

One ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 190 m. That works out at 380 m per 100 g, which makes it easy to convert the quantity needed for your project if your pattern gives the amount in metres. Choose your colour from the options.

What Malou Light is used for

With needles of 4.5–5 mm, you will make quick progress. The fluffy texture is pleasant to work with and gives an even stitch definition. This makes the yarn suitable for projects that should be light and warm, such as a jumper, poncho, scarf or stole. The tension on the ball band is 16 stitches × 25 rows over 10 × 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.

Yarn requirements and care

For a jumper, Lang Yarns gives the following guide quantities: child (10 years) approx. 200 g, women's size M approx. 300 g, men's size M approx. 400 g. That is about 4, 6 and 8 balls. The exact amount depends on the design. For larger projects, allow one extra ball and buy all the balls from the same dye lot so that there are no colour differences.
