Lang Yarns Norma Color – all-season yarn in cotton, modal and viscose

Norma Color by Lang Yarns is an all-season yarn in 55% cotton (organic cotton), 35% modal and 10% viscose. It suits jumpers, tops and accessories. According to the manufacturer, its special construction gives the yarn volume and a woolly character. So you get a soft yarn without any pure wool fibre, which you can knit in any season.

One ball weighs 50 g and has a length of approx. 135 m. You can use this to work out the quantity needed for your pattern. Choose your colour from the options.

What Norma Color is used for

The blend of cotton, modal and viscose makes the yarn interesting for garments you want to wear all year round. With the recommended needle size of 4–4.5 mm, you can knit jumpers, waistcoats, tops or scarves in a medium weight that knit up quickly. Modal and viscose add softness to the fabric, while the cotton provides a plant-based share. For tops with textured stitch patterns or areas worked in stocking stitch, the length per ball is easy to calculate.

Quantities and tension

What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide. Knit a swatch with the needle size from your pattern before you start. As a rough guide, the yarn requirements are as follows, depending on the pattern:

• Men's size M: approx. 700 g, i.e. about 14 balls
• Women's size M: approx. 550 g, i.e. about 11 balls
• Child, 10 years: approx. 400 g, i.e. about 8 balls

Care

The manufacturer recommends washing the knitted piece with detergent for delicates and without fabric softener. If possible, buy the total quantity for a project in one go, so that all the balls come from the same dye lot.
