Rayher warp yarn 1.0 mm in white – 220 m for warping weaving looms

Rayher warp yarn in white is a 6-ply yarn, 1.0 mm in diameter, for warping weaving looms. According to Rayher, it is made from a blend of cotton and polyester. With a length of 220 m, you can plan the length of your warp threads well in advance.

The yarn is unwaxed and can be washed by hand at up to 30 °C. Besides weaving, you can use it for macramé projects or dreamcatchers.

Warping the loom

The warp threads run lengthwise through the fabric when weaving, and the weft material is woven across them. Stretch the warp yarn evenly taut around the notches or nails of your loom and knot the start and end. If individual threads sag, the fabric will distort later and the edges will become wavy. A yarn with a diameter of 1.0 mm is thicker than a very fine warp yarn. It is therefore suited to looms with a slightly wider warp spacing and to coarser weft material.

Choosing your yarn

Rayher also offers the warp yarn in a 0.8 mm diameter. The thinner yarn suits closer warp spacing and finer work, while the 1.0 mm yarn suits slightly sturdier fabrics. Because the yarn is unwaxed, it feels soft in the hand and knots easily. You can also use it for macramé projects and dreamcatchers. Wash fabric made with this yarn by hand only, at up to 30 °C.
