Rayher coarse felting needles – for quick pre-felting of wool
You use the Rayher coarse felting needles (art. no. 5362000) for needle felting: they tangle wool fibres together quickly and firmly, so you can build up basic shapes and larger areas. The pack contains 3 needles in a coarse gauge, each 78 mm long.
Coarse needles suit the first stage of the work, when you establish the shape and firm up the wool. For fine details and smooth surfaces, switch to finer needles afterwards.
Felting with the coarse needles
Lay the wool loosely on a brush mat or a piece of foam. Push the needle in straight and pull it out in the same direction, without bending it sideways. This tangles the fibres and makes the needle less likely to snap. Work layer by layer until the shape holds, keeping your fingers well away from the point where the needle goes in.
Working with a handle
The needles fit the single Rayher felting needle handle (art. no. 53623). According to Rayher, the Rayher felting needle holder (art. no. 5362400) takes up to six coarse, medium or fine needles. With several needles at once, you can work larger areas faster.
