Rayher Medium Felting Needles – for Pre-Shaping and Refining in Needle Felting

The Rayher medium felting needles are a set of three needles for needle felting. You use them to pre-shape wool and work in texture. The needles are 78 mm long, and the "medium" gauge sits between Rayher's coarse and fine needles. This means one gauge takes you through building up a figure and working on details.

The needles fit the simple Rayher felting needle handle (art. no. 5362300). The felting needle holder (art. no. 5362400) takes up to six coarse, medium or fine needles. This lets you work larger areas more quickly.

Working with the felting needles

Place the wool on a brush mat or a piece of foam. Push the needle in vertically and pull it straight back out: the fibres tangle together and the wool becomes firmer. Pre-shape the basic form first with even stabs and only then work in the details. Do not insert the needle at an angle or twist it sideways, otherwise it may break. For very fine details you need a finer needle; Rayher also offers fine (art. no. 5362200) and coarse (art. no. 5362000) felting needles.
