Talens Art Creation stretched canvas – primed cotton canvas for oil and acrylic

The stretched canvas from the Art Creation range by Royal Talens is a ready-primed canvas made of 100% cotton for oil and acrylic painting. You can paint on it straight away. The frame is made of 20 mm thick FSC-certified wood, and the canvas is stapled on. According to the manufacturer, the frame stops the canvas from warping or becoming distorted.

The priming consists of one layer of natural glue and two layers of acid-free acrylic-based gesso. The canvas weighs 260 g/m² and has a fine texture, with 21.5 × 19.5 threads per cm². This makes fine details and soft transitions work well, and the canvas is equally prepared for oil and acrylic. Each stretched canvas is sold individually. Choose the size from the options.

Working on the canvas

The canvas is universally primed, so you can start straight away with acrylic or oil. If you would like a smoother or less absorbent surface, you can apply a further layer of gesso beforehand and let it dry. It is best to apply oil paint in thin layers and build up from lean to fat.

Choosing a size

The Art Creation range is available in several formats. The 20 mm frame depth looks slim and is easy to frame or to arrange in groups on the wall. On the larger formats in the range, cross bars and braces provide extra stability. When choosing a size, what matters most is how much surface your subject needs, as the canvas is built in the same way in all formats.
