The Royal Talens Amsterdam acrylic paint set contains 24 tubes of 20 ml and an additional 6 metallic tubes of 20 ml. It is a basic kit for acrylic painting: with 30 tubes and 600 ml in total, you have a wide palette for mixing and for several paintings.
Amsterdam acrylic paint is made from a 100% acrylic emulsion and pigments. It is practically odourless, and the silk matt paint film stays flexible even in thick layers, which helps to prevent cracking. The creamy, medium-viscosity consistency keeps brushstrokes and textures visible. You can also apply the paint for a more even coverage.
Using the paints
According to Royal Talens, you use the paint straight from the tube or thin it with water or acrylic painting medium. This lets you control opacity and texture yourself.
- Applied undiluted, brushstrokes and textures remain visible.
- Thinned with a little water or acrylic painting medium, the paint goes on more evenly and thinly.
- Let layers dry a little between coats before painting over them, so the colours do not run into each other.
- Wash brushes and palette straight after painting, as dried acrylic paint is very hard to remove.
What the metallic tubes are for
The 6 metallic tubes come in addition to the 24 tubes. They are suitable for accents such as highlights, fine lines or ornaments. It is best to lay in the areas with the other colours first and add the metallic accents once the base is dry.
