Viva Decor Beton für Kreative 1.5 kg – casting concrete for solid and thin-walled pieces
Viva Decor Beton für Kreative is a fine-grained, plastic-modified and fibre-reinforced concrete casting compound for decorative pieces such as bowls, tealight holders or figures. You simply mix the powder with water. It dries quickly and is low-dust, so it stays comparatively clean to work with indoors. According to the manufacturer, you can demould after about 2 hours. Once cured, the concrete is weatherproof and frost-resistant, so your pieces are also suitable for outdoor use.
The fibre reinforcement makes even very thin-walled pieces possible. Plastic, papier-mâché, silicone and wooden moulds are all suitable. For larger projects, the compound is also available in a 5 kg bucket.
Mixing and pouring the concrete
The mixing ratio is 10 parts concrete powder to 1.5 parts water, i.e. 100 g of powder to 15 ml of water. For the whole 1.5 kg bucket, that works out at 225 ml. According to the manufacturer, use cold water only. Measure the water carefully: too much water makes the concrete runnier, but the finished piece will be less stable.
- Put the powder in a clean container and add the measured cold water.
- Stir thoroughly until there are no dry pockets left.
- Fill the mould with the mixture and tap the mould lightly so that air bubbles rise to the surface.
- Demould after approx. 2 hours.
Thin-walled bowls and tealight holders
For bowls and tealight holders, you shape the concrete over a balloon. The balloon forms the inner shape, and you control the wall thickness through how much you apply. The fibres in the concrete hold even thin walls together. Do not apply it too thickly if the bowl is to stay light.
