Efco Round Wick by the Metre – Braided Cotton Wick for Homemade Candles

The Efco round wick is a braided candle wick made of 100 % cotton, available by the metre for pouring your own candles. The braiding helps the liquid wax travel up to the flame. Choose your size from the options.

Sold by the metre, the wick can be cut to suit any candle height, whether for a single project or several candles in different moulds. For its round wicks, Efco specifies thick-bodied (viscous) waxes as the area of use.

Using the wick

Cut a piece slightly longer than the height of the candle. Hold it centred in the mould or container, for example with a wooden stick or a clip laid across the opening, and pour in the wax. Once the candle has cooled, trim the wick to approx. 5 mm above the wax. For its round wicks, Efco points out the burning direction: the part marked in red is the base of the wick and goes at the bottom.

Choosing the size

The wick size depends on the diameter of your candle. If the wick is too thin, the candle burns with a small flame and the wax melts only in the centre. If it is too thick, the candle is more likely to smoke and drip. You can see the suitable diameter range for each size in the options.
