EFCO beech wooden beads – drilled for painting and threading
EFCO's drilled wooden beads are made of untreated beech. You can use them for crafting and lots of DIY projects, such as necklaces, garlands, mobiles or decorations. Choose your size from the options.
As the wood is raw, you decide on the finish: you can paint, stain or varnish the beads, or leave them natural. Thanks to the hole, they can be threaded straight onto cord, ribbon, wire or a wooden stick.
Working with raw wooden beads
To paint them, slide the beads onto a wooden skewer or cocktail stick that fits through the hole. This keeps them neatly held and lets you stand them up to dry, for example in a piece of polystyrene. Because the wood is raw, it absorbs paint: a primer or a second coat gives even coverage. Water-based paints can raise the wood grain, so lightly sand the dry bead afterwards.
Which size to choose
Small beads suit fine necklaces and details, large ones suit garlands, curtains or decorative pieces. The hole diameter depends on the bead size. Check it before buying if you want to use thicker cord or ribbon.
