KnitPro Cable Needles – Hold Stitches Securely

The KnitPro cable needles (art. no. 45501) are a set of two aluminium needles in 2.5 mm and 4 mm. You use them to hold the stitches that are crossed later when knitting cables. The needles are curved in the middle, so the held stitches stay on the needle and do not slip off.

The two sizes cover yarns from fine to thicker. The set is suitable for cable patterns on scarves, hats and jumpers, including intricate patterns with many crossings.

Working with the cable needle

Slip the stitches that form the cable onto the cable needle and leave them in front of or behind your work, depending on whether the cable should cross to the left or to the right. Then knit the next stitches from the knitting needle, followed by the held stitches from the cable needle. The curve in the middle stops the stitches from sliding off while they wait.

Which size to choose

Use the 2.5 mm needle for fine yarns and the 4 mm needle for thicker ones. Where possible, choose a cable needle that is no thicker than your knitting needle, so the stitches are not stretched while they are held.
