Painting your watercolour postcard

Paint on the front; the back with the printed layout stays free for the address and your message. The board is heavier than ordinary paper, but it can still cockle slightly with a lot of water. Work with a brush that is not too wet and leave the card to dry flat. The rough texture lets pigment settle in the hollows. Fine lines and tiny details are easier on smoother paper, while the surface suits colour gradients and atmospheric subjects well.
