Schmincke HORADAM Watercolour Tin, 8 Half Pans + Water Tank

Schmincke HORADAM watercolour tin with water tank – compact for painting on the go

The Schmincke HORADAM watercolour metal tin with 8 half pans and a water tank is a small watercolour set for painting on the go and at home. The metal tin is filled with eight HORADAM watercolour paints, and a small water tank is built into the underside. The lid serves as a mixing area, so you can mix colours directly in the tin.

Schmincke makes HORADAM watercolour paint with a high pigment concentration from quality pigments. This sets it clearly apart from the manufacturer's AKADEMIE quality.

Which colours you can mix

The eight shades cover yellow, red, blue, green and earth colours. From Zitronengelb, Permanent Karmin and Ultramarin you can mix orange, violet and green tones. Preußischblau and Permanentgrün oliv add depth to landscapes and plants, while Lichter Ocker and Sepiabraun are suited to earth tones and shadows.

Painting with the tin

Moisten the pans with a little water and let the paint soften briefly. Then pick it up with a damp brush and keep mixing in the lid. Paint on watercolour paper, because thin paper cockles badly with a lot of water. Make a colour swatch on an offcut first, as watercolour paint dries lighter. After painting, let the pans dry before you close the tin.

Which tin is right for you?

This tin is the small version for sketching and travelling. For a wider choice of colours, the HORADAM watercolour series offers a larger tin with 47 half pans and ONETZ wetting agent, as well as a set of 12 tubes of 5 ml each.
