Rico Design wax colour pigments – colour your own candle wax

With Rico Design wax colour pigments, you can colour melted candle wax. A 5 g pack colours approx. 500 g of wax at medium colour intensity, so you can plan the quantity for your candle or casting project. The pigments are blendable and lightfast, so you can combine shades and mix your own. Choose your colour from the options.

The pigments come as irregular pieces and are melted straight into the liquid wax.

Colouring your wax

Melt the wax completely first. Then add the pigments a little at a time and stir until they have dissolved. Start with a small amount of colour and add more if needed: that way you avoid a shade that is too dark, which you cannot lighten again. A drop of the mixture on paper, left to cool, shows you the final shade. Do not overheat the mixture, otherwise the wax and pigment will separate.

Influencing the colour result

Beeswax has a yellow base tone, which affects the result. The more pigment you add, the more strongly you cover it. For layered candles, colour each layer of wax separately.
