Gütermann Sternchenzwirn Linen Thread – Tear-Resistant Sewing Thread in 100 % Linen

Gütermann Sternchenzwirn linen thread is a tear-resistant sewing thread made from 100 % linen, for hand sewing where the seam has to withstand a lot, for example when sewing buttons onto workwear and uniforms. The thread is made of several twisted linen fibres and keeps its shape.

The size is No./Tkt. 30 (dtex 910(2)). The set contains 2 reels of 20 m each, so 40 m in total. That is enough for buttons, repairs and decorative stitching rather than long seams. Choose your colour from the options.

What the linen thread is suited to

Linen is a strong thread that works well in places where ordinary sewing thread soon gives way. Typical uses are sewing buttons onto workwear and uniforms, hard-wearing decorative stitching, repairs under heavy strain and hand sewing on firm fabrics.

Sewing on a button securely

Thread the needle and sew the button on with several passes through the holes. While sewing, place a matchstick or a thick needle between the button and the fabric and only pull it out at the end: this leaves a small gap that takes up the fabric when the button is fastened. To finish, wind the thread several times around the shank under the button and fasten off the end securely.
