Prym Elastic-Kordel Ø 2.5 mm – round elastic cord for masks, hats and waistbands

The Prym Elastic-Kordel (art. no. 971230) is a round elastic cord, 2.5 mm in diameter, which you can use for masks, hats, waistbands and other sewing projects. The elastic strands are covered with soft textile yarns. According to Prym, this meets high standards for skin compatibility, which matters for masks and waistbands that sit directly against the skin.

The cord has an elasticity of 150%. There are 3 m on the card. Choose your colour from the options.

Using the cord

Measure the length on the body or head and cut the cord with an allowance for knots or seams. For a waistband or casing, thread it through with a safety pin. The casing must be clearly wider than 2.5 mm inside so that the cord does not bunch up as you thread it. For masks and hats, it is best to sew the ends firmly in place or knot them securely so that nothing comes loose.

Care

According to Prym, the cord is washable up to 40 °C and tumble-dryer safe. Wash it together with the garment it has been sewn into.
