Lang Yarns Merino 70 – chunky merino wool yarn for quick knits

Lang Yarns Merino 70 is a chunky yarn for quick knitting, made of 98% virgin wool (merino extrafine, mulesing-free) and 2% polyester. You can knit jumpers, cardigans, scarves and accessories that grow quickly thanks to the thick needles. Choose your colour from the options.

The merino wool is superwash-treated, which makes the yarn easy to care for. The 2% Polyester-Elité functional fibre is twisted together with the wool, so according to the manufacturer the knitted pieces keep their shape.

What Merino 70 is used for

With needles of 6–7 mm and only approx. 70 m per 50 g ball, your knitting progresses quickly. The yarn suits jumpers, cardigans, scarves and accessories. Merino wool feels soft. The tension on the ball band is 14 stitches × 22 rows over 10 × 10 cm. What matters is the tension given in your pattern; the figure on the ball band is only a guide.

Yarn requirements

According to the manufacturer's data sheet, you will need about 750 g for a men's size M, about 650 g for a women's size M and about 450 g for a 10-year-old child. At 50 g per ball, that is roughly 15, 13 and 9 balls. The actual quantity depends on the pattern. It is better to allow a little extra and to buy everything from the same dye lot so that the colour stays even.

Care

Wash knitted items made of Merino 70 with wool detergent, without fabric softener. According to the manufacturer, the superwash finish makes the yarn easy to care for.
