Prym linen thread – tear-resistant thread for decorative seams and buttons
Prym linen thread (Sternchenzwirn) is a tear-resistant sewing thread made of 100 % linen, for decorative seams and for sewing on buttons, for example on professional and work clothing. It is made of several yarns twisted together, which makes it particularly strong.
The pack contains two thread stars of 20 m each, 40 m in total. Choose your colour from the options.
What the linen thread is used for
Linen thread is much stronger than ordinary sewing thread. That is why you use it for visible decorative seams and for buttons that are put under a lot of strain, such as on work jackets, aprons or professional clothing. You can wash the seams at up to 40 °C.
Sewing on a button
Thread the needle with a double length of thread and knot the ends. Sew the button on with several stitches through the buttonholes and the fabric. For a button with a thread shank, leave a little space between the button and the fabric and finish by winding the threads around several times, so that the button fits through the buttonhole easily later. You can clamp the end of the thread in one of the notches on the thread star to stop the thread from unwinding.
