Canson Imagine Mix Media – paper for dry and wet techniques

Canson Imagine Mix Media paper is an artist paper of 200 g/m² for drawing, illustration and watercolour. The surface has a light grain, and according to Canson the feel sits between silk and velvet. You can work dry, wet and with mixed techniques without having to change paper.

The paper is natural white, acid-free and free from optical brightening agents (OBA). Without brighteners the tone stays warm, and colours look harmonious rather than standing out harshly against the white. It is glued on one side and available in several DIN sizes. Choose your size from the options.

Which techniques suit it?

According to Canson, the paper is suitable for graphite, felt-tip pens and markers as well as wet techniques such as watercolour, gouache and ink. Combinations of dry and wet are also possible, for example a graphite underdrawing that you wash over with watercolour. At 200 g/m² it is heavier than ordinary drawing paper and absorbs water and colour better. The light grain is also sufficient for technical drawings and illustrations with fine lines.

Removing a sheet from the pad

With pads glued on one side, only separate the sheet once the work is completely dry. To do so, carefully run a blunt knife or bone folder along the glued edge.
