Crimp beads 2.5 x 2.5 mm – securing jewellery wire

You use these crimp beads, Ø 2.5 x 2.5 mm, to secure jewellery wire, nylon thread or other cords, to hold beads in place and to attach clasps. The tube-shaped metal beads are closed with crimping pliers. You get 100 pieces in gold, silver, black or copper; choose your colour from the options.

The compact size suits fine work and delicate jewellery. With 100 pieces you have enough for several necklaces or bracelets, and you can also use them for repairs.

Attaching a crimp bead

Thread the crimp bead onto the wire, pass the wire through the loop of the clasp and then back through the bead. Pull the loop tight and then flatten the bead with the crimping pliers. Give the wire a gentle tug to check that it is held firmly before you carry on.

Which size to choose

The wire has to pass through the bead twice. Test this briefly before crimping. Smaller crimp beads of 1.5 and 2.0 mm are available for thinner threads and particularly fine pieces. At 2.5 mm, this size sits between those and the 3.0 mm size, and it suits medium wire thicknesses. If you combine several colours, match the bead to the clasp and beads.
