da Vinci CASANEO MINI's XS Watercolour Brush

da Vinci CASANEO XS – compact watercolour brush for travelling

The da Vinci CASANEO XS is the short travel version of the CASANEO watercolour brushes: a compact brush for watercolour and other fluid paints that fits in your pencil case. The extra-soft, wavy synthetic fibres are vegan, very springy and hold plenty of paint. This lets you lay down larger areas of colour in one stroke without constantly re-dipping.

The handle is short, polished black and hexagonal. It sits compactly in the hand and does not roll off the table. At approx. 15 cm in total length, the brush fits into small travel sets. Choose your shape from the options.

Working with the mini brush

The brush is designed for wet techniques. Dampen it briefly before painting, pick up paint and let it flow across the paper. Thanks to the high paint capacity, a few strokes are often enough for a wash or a gradient. As well as watercolour, it suits other fluid paints such as diluted gouache or acrylic. Wash acrylic out immediately, before it dries. After painting, rinse the brush in clean water, reshape the fibres and leave it to dry lying flat. Do not leave it standing in water with the fibres downwards, as they will bend.

Which shape suits your subject?

The CASANEO XS is available in several brush shapes. Choose your shape from the options. This will help you decide:

• Flat brush: for areas, straight edges and sky gradients
• Round brush: for lines, details and fine points
• Sword brush: for long, sweeping strokes with varying width
