CLASSIC Lino Blocks – 3.2 mm Thick for Lino Cutting and Lino Printing
CLASSIC lino blocks are 3.2 mm thick printing blocks for lino cutting, on which you cut designs for lino printing. They are made of linseed oil, cork powder and jute fabric and are soft enough to cut with little effort. That makes them a good material for first experiences in art lessons, in workshops or at home.
The blocks come in sizes from A6 to A2. Choose your size from the options. For groups and school classes, you can combine several blocks.
Lino cutting step by step
First draw your design on the block with a pencil. For lettering and images with a clear direction, remember that the print appears as a mirror image, so the design must be drawn reversed on the block. Then use the cutting tool to cut away the areas that are to stay white. To print, roll a thin, even layer of ink onto the raised areas with the roller, lay paper on top and rub it down.
- Always cut away from your body and never place your free hand in front of the blade.
- Children should only work with the sharp tools under supervision.
- Leave some space at the edges when cutting so that the edges do not break off during printing.
Which size should you choose?
A6 is suitable for small designs, cards and first cutting practice. With larger formats up to A2 you can make posters or group projects. Allow a narrow margin around the design so that the block can be inked and printed cleanly.
