BeadSmith 1-Step Looper pliers – cut the wire and form the loop in one step
The BeadSmith 1-Step Looper is a pair of loop-forming pliers for jewellery making. It cuts the wire and forms the loop in a single movement. You can make eye pins in one go, instead of bending each loop separately with round-nose pliers and side cutters.
A hole in the upper jaw lets you work with long wire, for example straight from the spool. The loops come out the same size every time, because the pliers set the measurement. That helps when you need lots of identical connectors, earrings or chain links. Choose the loop size from the options.
Working with the looper
Place the wire in the jaws so that it can run through the hole in the upper jaw if you are working from the spool. Squeeze the handles together: the pliers cut the wire and form the loop at the same time. Make a test piece from scrap wire first, so you can see how far the wire should go into the jaws and how the finished loop sits. Use soft or half-hard wire. Do not cut very hard wire or steel wire with these pliers, otherwise the cutting edge will suffer.
Choosing the loop size
The loop is the same size with every squeeze, as the pliers are a specialist tool with a fixed measurement. Choose the size to suit the beads, chain links or clasps that will later pass through the loop. For eye pins that you will later thread with beads, a consistent loop size is particularly practical.
